Frequently Asked Questions

What are the Four Pillars of Potty Training With Love?

The Four Pillars are the foundation of my approach: a nurturing environment, a strong adult-child bond, promoting physical strength and dexterity and fostering independence and resilience. These pillars work together to create a comprehensive and supportive potty training experience.

Why is a child-centred approach important?

A child-centred approach respects and responds to the individual needs and developmental stages of each child, making potty training a positive and effective experience. It builds confidence and supports holistic development.

What is Montessori potty training and do you support it?

Montessori potty training focuses on fostering independence and allowing the child to learn at their own pace with support and guidance. At Potty Training With Love, I take a similar approach, promoting autonomy while providing the necessary support to ensure success.

How can I tell if my child is ready for potty training?

Signs of readiness can vary but common indicators include a desire for increased independence, showing interest in the potty, communicating discomfort when wet or dirty and being able to follow simple instructions. A consultation can help you assess your child's readiness more accurately.

What if my child is resistant to potty training?

Resistance can be common and it’s important to approach it with patience and understanding. My strategies focus on creating a supportive environment and using positive reinforcement to encourage your child and minimise resistance.

How does a 1:1 consultation work?

A 1:1 consultation involves a 40-minute video call where we discuss your child's personality and needs as well as your own feelings about potty training. After the call, you will receive a personalised potty learning plan with explanation of the 5 step plan that is tailored to you and your child.

What if I’m not ready for a consultation?

Don’t worry, it’s not a race. Take a look at my free resources, some of which can help you prepare for potty training weeks or even months in advance. You can find these on the Resources page of the website.
